**** The Fabric Giveaway Winner is Comment #28 ****
**********************************************************************
Readers, you have done this, have you not? With dreams of more StyleArc Linda pants, we order fabric online. Surreptitiously, a little extra (1.5 yard) piece jumps into the shopping cart. It arrives and it's somehow not what we *expected*.Yep, I did that yesterday. Today, it becomes a fabric giveaway on my trusty blog.
Leave a comment letting me know that you have done the same thing, you are astonished that I would do such a thing, or you just want this fabric. I will draw a winner randomly on Sunday night and announce it here. Make sure your email address is linked in your profile, or leave it as part of your comment, OK?
* My expectation was that blue is just always fabulous, no matter what. In reality, I like cool blues. These blues are warm. There is just the slightest aqua undertone in the gray and in the darker blues.
It make me look weary, which I most certainly am not. (Am I blaming fabric for making me look my age? ... Oh well, anyway ....)
Readers, I have no excuse for this lapse in judgement. I own a Pantone color fan, and I did not check the numbers in the product description. If I had, I would have seen that these are not "my" blues and grays. I will try to learn my lesson. In the meantime, I get the vicarious thrill of making someone else happy with a piece of free fabric.
Are you outside the US? Please enter - I am happy to ship internationally.
Cheerio!

Ohhh how fun! I love a good fabric giveaway! Count me in please:)
ReplyDeleteThat fabric looks lovely (for me). I just did this with some super soft buttery wool fabric I ordered. It looked more peach on the web and was more salmon when it arrived. I'm going to use it anyway.
ReplyDeleteI have definitely done this myself, I once ordered what looked like a delightful underwater MunkiMunki printed knit that turned out to be GREEN rather than the pale blue it looked on my monitor.
ReplyDeleteThe last year has been one of dealing with all kinds of health challenges; as I am hopefully recovering over the next few months, I would be very happy if this fabric could become part of my wardrobe, and that I could get back to the sewing that I have missed for so long
I usually can work with anything. The crazier the better but I have ordered fabric that made me go "whoa!" It just looked so pretty on the monitor, but in real life... Bleech!! Thankfully, it doesn't happen too often. Please toss my name into the hat for this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI always carefully read the fine print, compare my Pantone color swatches and adjust my monitor settings and NEVER have problems with color like this.
ReplyDeleteNOT! :) I can buy stuff in the store with my hands on it and still have fails.
I'd love to take this one off your hands!
After a couple of online purchasing mistakes, these days I limit myself to fabric I can see in person. :-(
ReplyDeleteThat's really cute fabric, though - would love to be in the draw for it! :-)
I like warm blues! I live in the UK, please count me in!
ReplyDeleteAs it happens I was just considering ordering this for myself today as I was browsing the internet. It looks like just 'my' color of blues... Sign me up please!
ReplyDeleteI love the grey and blue together. They are beautiful- please sign me up for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI love blue and grey, and would be happy to take this fabric off your hands. I love the funky print!
ReplyDeleteI cant lie ive done ths many times. Sometimes fabric just doesnt look the same in person. Id love to take it off your hands.

Once mom bought me fabric I wanted and send by a friend all the way from brazil but she didn't check and they gave her another customer bag and imagine my face after seeing the fabric... Terrible.. At least you got lovely fabric xx
ReplyDeleteOnline fabric shopping is so convenient, but the downside is that the monitor doesn't exactly capture the color so this has happened to me. The upside is that I'd be delighted to be considered for your giveaway. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteOooh, happened to me. I'm not much of an online shopper, buuut I've bought fabric to "match" without the "matchee" with me and regretted.
ReplyDeleteSigh....
Happy to take this off your hands, though!
These would work for me but I like pretty graphic prints. Sorry you don't care for them and I really commend your generosity. Mostly would let them age with the rest of the bounty but I like that you are passing them on. Thanks for your generosity, Robin.
ReplyDeleteMy story is about yarn not fabric, but I ordered a cone of yarn that looked turquoise in the picture, but in real life turned out to be a very pale aqua. Luckily I like aqua, but it wasn't what I wanted for that particular project.
ReplyDeleteMeant to say most, not "mostly".
ReplyDeleteWarm blues are perfect for me. I've definitely bought fabric online that wasn't what I expected, which is why I don't shop online as much for fabric, that and I love to touch before buying.
ReplyDeleteWhat, me? Ordered something online that turned out to not be what I expected? Oh, goodness, never! [koffkoff] Or wash something, thinking that would somehow change it magically into something that worked? Again, never! [koffhackahem]. Or wash it again, thinking another washing might somehow change the texture? Again, no way! [ahemkoffkoffkoff]
ReplyDeleteWarmer blues are definitely good for me! But if not, hey, nothing the matter with another giveaway.... ;)
I love fabric!!! Thanks for the giveaway! phardy@snet.net
ReplyDeleteVery pretty! Please count me in.
ReplyDeleteI hate it when the color is not just as I imagined!
ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous. I have been giving fabric to a new sewer who wants to learn to sew cute things for her daughter and we are planning a few lessons in the not too distant future.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI wear just about any colour as long as it's colour - if you know what I mean. Would love some fabric!
ReplyDeletekat_troske@hotmail.com, in case I win.
Yes, it has happend :) Pleas count me in
ReplyDeleteThis is why I'm still scared of internet fabric shopping. But internet fabric giveaways are another matter altogether! Count me in, and thanks so much for sharing your fabric!

Ooo, warm blues and greys are just my cup of tea!
ReplyDeleteI don't buy fabric online, but somehow I manage to do this even when buying in person. Which takes talent, I like to think...
I've stopped buying fabric online for this very reason. Like the little girl with the curl, when its good its very good.
ReplyDeleteI've done this on ebay several times...I think my brain sees what it wants to instead of what's really there some times. :-) But I love warm blues, so please count me in.
ReplyDeleteI think the warm grays and blues you accidentally ended up with would go well with my SWAP. Please count me in for your giveaway! If I'm so lucky as to win, you can contact me at amy.ahearta at gmail dot com. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI've done this many times and sometimes it works out well, other times not so. This is a really interesting print, though and I like these blues, so count me in, too, please!
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for entering! The winner of the fabric giveaway is Tanit-Isis!
ReplyDeleteHi - I have come across your blog and had to comment on this post. I know the prize has been given away but I have to let you know that I think my fabric beats your fabric (sounds like my father is bigger than your father type of thing doesn't it :-)
ReplyDeleteI purchased what looked like a lovely chocolate brown ribbed sweater knit and ended up with Gold foil LAME - go figure!
Anyway - enjoying your blog. Thanks
Just recently did this! I'm still holding out hope that I will figure out something to do with the fabric though :)
ReplyDeleteI would love an opportunity to win this! I recently ordered three metres of lime green waxed cotton (!) and knew immediately that the fabric purchase was not for me. One lives and learns...
ReplyDeleteIf this is still open, I would love a chance to win! Thank you very much :)
