Before & After Shots of My Big Fat Home Improvement

Wanna see what I did last summer?  The house needed some work, so I took advantage of the opportunity to lighten things up.

Just for the record, HGTV is a bad influence on me.   Once we decided to update kitchen appliances, there was a domino effect with this project. I had a vision that was put in my head by too many episodes of "How to Update This House!" type of shows.   BUT,  I am so glad I went big, because the house is so much more welcoming and enjoyable now.

Meanwhile, back in the sewing room, I sewed plackets on a shirt sleeve last weekend.  That made me feel very good.  Life is so unpredictable, isn't it?  Someone close to me is going through health issues, but we are just hanging tough together and that's really what it's all about, isn't it?  Being there for our loved ones.

May this find you well...

  1. wow, Robin, you have really accomplished a lot! I am so impressed and love the colors you have chosen.

I swear I have caught your bug. DH and I are doing a lot of spiffing up the past few days and hopefully will have a painter in soon to help. Then it will be slipcover time! Why did you do this to me???

  9. Pretty, pretty, pretty! Now you can carve out some sewing time for yourself. My own cat tends to pee on the carpets rather than throw up. We're waiting for him to die before we re-do the floors. Thank God for Febreeze and Odo-Ban.

  10. I understand the bug. In April I decided I needed to "update" a medicine cabinet in my main bathroom. You can guess what happened, as soon as the marble is installed on the custom vanity, we will be almost done! Yikes! I am very timid with wall colors, I stretched to a light gray. We will see! Your projects look great. Really like the grout recolor.

  17. Robin,

All your home redos look absolutely wonderful. i love the colors selected and really love the new kitchen. I have to laugh, for I am living with the same "antique stove/oven" as you previously had. Can hardly wait for my kitchen redo, when I can just stand the mess.

    Wonderful job!

  19. Your updates look REALLY good! DH put up several new lights this weekend, but I always feel like there are so many projects that need attention and never enough time/money to get to them all.

  20. Yes, that is life, but sometimes it isn't so much fun, is it? I am sorry that you lost your cat. I am sure your cat enjoyed heaven on earth being with you. The house looks great; it should sell quickly. I always do that! Fix it up and never want to leave. Hope your loved one feel better quickly. Sounds like you have lots of challenges lately. Hang in there, we're all rooting fo ryou.
