Wanna see my pad stitches?

I sewed 'em up on the lapels.
Seems OK so far, but what do I know?  I can definitely see the spots where I got confused! :O
I used silk thread per the instructions so it won't show through the facing.  But this fabric has texture so it would be forgiving, I suspect.

If I can keep doing a little bit on a regular basis, it will get finished.  I have three projects going right now.  That's a lot for me.

  1. Your workmanship is amazing. I've always wondered do these stitches show on the outside of the garment?

  2. Beautiful! I love padstitching and always get a little sad when it gets covered up.

  3. There's something to be said for hand-tailoring a garment. It's an accomplishment.

  5. Great work. Keep at it!
I also get a little sad when handstitching is covered up but there is something to be said about wearing a well-tailored garment that you made yourself. You smile more, feel a little prettier and walk with pride.

  6. Hi!

I was looking at your old livejournal, because it came up in a search for a Singer 327 mechanical machine...do you still have your Singer? I just bought one on ebay and I was wondering what type of sewing machine oil you use for yours.

    Thanks!

  7. hey Kristen, yes I do still have that cute little 327. And I just use regular old oil that is in my drawer. Lord knows where that came from. It worked, though.

  9. Looks good - since they will on the inside eventually don't worry about them. Practice makes perfect!
